(I followed the whole printer driver installation process through, including the reboot, but it says under System Preferences/Printers that it's still using Printer Driver v1.41.ĭid you follow Brother's install instructions? See
I tried installing the latest printer driver from Brother (v2.21) - though honestly I don't know if the system is currently using it. PS - FYI the "Options" button on the Print menu is still active, but it doesn't have any relevant options for printing duplex, landscape, etc. Any ideas why the printer's Properties would be inactive? I think this must be a big clue, because I agree - that's where the duplex option should be found. But under Open Office Writer, the printer's "Properties" button is grayed out. The Printer Properties you described are how it appears when I use Word.
BROTHER PRINTER TWO SIDED PRINTING GREYED OUT HOW TO
If this works we can then sort out how to make the selection permanent. Click on Duplex, and select flip on Long Side (I assume you are printing a Portrait orientation page). There sgould be a button or tab (Layout, for my two printers) which allows you to specify singlesided or duplex. Press this and a new window will open to show various printer properties, such as paper tray to use (manual or built in), paper size to use (A4, US Letter etc), Landscape or Portrait orientation etc. But beside the Printer selection drop-down there ought be a Printer Properties button.
In this window you can selec number of pages to print, number of copies etc. When you go to File / Print, you should get a window allowing you to select your printer (which selection is probably correct).
